El verano 2027 arrives with gold, generous tailoring and a touch of transparency

On a vereda where the sun has not yet burned the concrete, the first impression is clear: next summer's wardrobe will not be limited to light colors and simple vacation clothes. The collections presented in Paris point to a season with more personality, where gold, voluminous jackets, floral prints, polka dots and transparent fabrics coexist with classic tailoring. The message is not to abandon elegance, but to rethink the way a familiar piece is worn.

The color that gained the most ground was gold. Saint Laurent closed its show with more than 80 looks entirely dressed in gold, beneath an oversized golden spider, with the Eiffel Tower as backdrop. The scene, directed creatively by Anthony Vaccarello before leaving the house after ten years, established a metallic and theatrical tone for the season. It does not necessarily mean that an entire outfit must be gold: a shirt, a skirt or a small accessory can be enough to incorporate the trend without turning it into a costume.

The oversized jacket becomes the season's basic piece

At the other end of the spectrum, tailoring is returning with force. The oversized jacket appeared in almost every collection as a structuring piece, worn over cropped tops, camisoles or short blouses and combined with straight trousers. Nicole Kidman attended the Chanel show in the front row wearing one of the house's models. Under the creative direction of Mathew Blazy, Chanel favored clean lines and silhouettes that revalue the classic jacket, although the proportions are more generous than usual.

Dior, with Jonathan Anderson overseeing all of the house's creative lines, presented metallic garments with fluid silhouettes. The shine was not limited to accessories: it became the foundation of the proposal. Anya Taylor-Joy, the brand's ambassador, appeared in the front row wearing a black lace cape. The contrast is important, because it shows that transparency and shine can be combined with elegant, dark pieces rather than only with bright vacation colors.

Valentino chose a library near the Sorbonne University to present its collection, named Antibiblioteca. Alessandro Michele, the former creative director of Gucci, worked with giant bows, embroidery and feathers as symbols of the Italian house's glamour. The scene reinforces one of the season's most striking ideas: a special piece, whether it is a bow, an embroidered detail or a dramatic accessory, can transform a simple combination into something memorable.

  • An oversized jacket in linen or lightweight gabardine, preferably worn over a cropped top or camisole.
  • A metallic or golden top that can be combined with straight trousers or a short skirt.
  • A small garment with floral or polka dot prints, following the jewel-top proposal.
  • A sheer piece or a fabric that suggests more than it covers, used with a more restrained garment to balance the look.
  • A fluid, shiny skirt or dress that continues Dior's metallic and flowing silhouettes.

Prints also have their own protagonists. Polka dots and flowers appeared strongly, especially in so-called jewel tops: small pieces, almost like bodices, designed to be worn over the skin and paired with straight trousers or short balloon-style skirts. At the same time, the naked trend, with transparencies and fabrics that reveal more than they traditionally cover, continues to consolidate itself as a seasonal classic.

For those who are about to renew their summer wardrobe, the practical conclusion is encouraging: it is not necessary to spend a fortune to follow these ideas. An oversized jacket, a radiant top and a floral or polka dot garment are enough to begin. The key is the silhouette, not the logo or the price. The collections in Paris combine the classic with the exaggerated, the luminous with the discreet and the sensual with the structured, offering multiple ways to dress for the summer that is coming.

“The most useful advice is to choose one strong piece and combine it with clothes you already own; that is how a trend becomes part of your style instead of replacing it.”Javier Riveros

From this side of the world, the invitation is to observe rather than to imitate blindly. Gold can be a detail, the oversized jacket can be the base and transparency can be moderated with an opaque layer. By the time summer 2027 arrives, there will be room for several interpretations, but the common thread will be clear: comfortable pieces with presence, capable of moving between everyday life and more special occasions.
